Given the taxes I pay for my Links villa which help to maintain Islander’s Beach Park, this proposal is punitive, discriminatory and divisive. I’m at the villa part time, and I rent it part time. I should be entitled to a parking pass and have the ability to walk the 1/2 mile to the beach. Additionally, family/friends who visit should be able to use metered parking. Islander’s is not a private beach. It is public property and therefore access to it should remain as it stands today.

I own a villa 0.4 miles from Islanders. I use my villa one week a month & happen to rent when I am not there. To be excluded from being eligible for a beach pass does not sit well, especially when I pay more taxes than a primary resident. I believe the 6 months consecutive use or no rentals does not adequately distinguish a resident from an investment property owner. There should be considerations for grandfathering by 0.5-1 mile or less or not classified as a solely STR investment property.

I’ve had several ideas and conversations via email with the board on the topic of restricting Wimbledon Court short term renters from Islanders. It is unnecessarily punitive to the owners of the Links. Exhibit B is fine, if properties, regardless of rental status, would be eligible within 1 mile from islanders. This is a reasonable compromise, and would solve 99% of what you are trying to fix.
